近日，马撒诸塞州州长办公室发言人称继续坚持原定计划在2007年1月使用OpenDocument 代替微软的 office 标准。OpenDocument 标准由OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards)提出。去年州IT部门的 CIO Quinn 在选择标准的斗争中辞职。称关于标准采用的辩论过于政治化。尽管州政府支持OpenDocument 的标准，他们同时表示如果微软 Office Open XML 标准能够被 ECMA 接受为标准，那么他们将会考虑支持。
